i won't mince words. i am a potter head. i'm in the process of taking cake decorating courses so that i may create something like this by the time HP7 part deux comes out july 2011. in the meantime, i crocheted a scarf instead (and no, it's not in support for the redskins, even tho i am in general skins territory). it's for the gryffindor house, whose colors are scarlet and gold. while this house is the most popular, i sometimes identify with Slytherin, except minus the whole evil dark lord hocus pocus.
i used this pattern for inspiration. the beauty of it is that it's crochet but a knitting stitch. i hate knitting but the knit stitch is so pretty.
i'll be hitting up HP7 part 1 with nuria and Dirty South this weekend, of course. they've created their own scarves and depending on how hungover we are time and inclination, we'll pose & i'll post pix eventually.

Dude. 10 points for Gryffindor house! You are quite the knitstress. I would pay many galleons for that scarf.
ReplyDeleteJust watched Deathly Hallows Part 1 last night. Holy crap! I completely didn't remember any of the book or the last movie, so I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Now I'm rereading the last half of the book. I think that movie was the best one yet. Although there were a couple semi-nakey parts that made me laugh out loud. Our Gryffindor kids are growing up! Like, for real. Whoa.
ReplyDeletenot a potter fan, but definitely a crochet fan. New at it and not so confident. Must get me some more crochet lessons. The scarf looks good.
ReplyDeleteali, YES. i like being able to contribute points to the house! :)
ReplyDeletejacqui, right?! they are all sorts of grown up. it was the best movie of the lot, enjoyed it thoroughly!
deb, thanks! just keep at it. i watch youtube videos to learn new stitches. pls let me know if you need any help!
I'm totally in love with this scarf. I would love to learn how to knit (I used to crochet, I'm sure I could do it again if I tried) so that I could make scarves of my own. Excuse me while I geek out for a moment: "Go go, Gryffindor"
ReplyDeleteLovely scarf, I am thinking I can whip a couple of these for stocking stuffers for my potter fans.
ReplyDeleteyay!!!! another potter head! i wish i had the patience to knit! that is an awesome scarf!
ReplyDeletei was tempted, but did NOT wear my Slytherin Robe, tie and uniform to the HP -DH Part 1 movie last weekend! heheh.
elle, i'm a crocheter. i learned how to knit first and it was not fun on my wrists, but picking up the crochet hook? it was like Home. a friend taught me the basics and then i just watched youtube vids to learn stitches. if i can do it, you can too!
ReplyDeletemedifast coupon, thank you! it's a fast project and perfect for the holiday season! good luck.
caninecologne, YES, a slytherin visited my post! sporting the scarves was the most i could do for this movie but i think for the last movie, we'll go a bit wild... we're already planning it... :)
