December 2009 - Gingerbread House from Scratch

The December 2009 Daring Bakers’ challenge was brought to you by Anna of Very Small Anna and Y of Lemonpi. They chose to challenge Daring Bakers’ everywhere to bake and assemble a gingerbread house from scratch. They chose recipes from Good Housekeeping and from The Great Scandinavian Baking Book as the challenge recipes.

  3. this house is crazy cool :) i love it! i'm sure so much effort went into it. looks beautiful and i bet once you start eating it (like Hansel & Gretel) it's gonna be so much more wonderful. Happy Christmas! x

  5. Wow! What a large and beautiful creation! I used Anna's recipe, too and was a little short on dough. Was this a double batch?

  6. @ E. Lee, no i actually had ALOT leftover! i was kicking myself for not halving this recipe! it took me about an hour to fully knead and incorporate the dough and i didn't even use it all! i'm freezing the rest for maybe another venture into gingerbread building..
